A vacancy for a CAT Practitioner has come up at the Munro Centre.
The post holder with work with complex presentations using CAT, offering assessments, treatment and Step 2 CAT Skills group to the patients referred to Southwark Primary Care Mental Health Teams (PCMHT).
This is an exciting role to work closely with the multi- disciplinary colleagues, care coordinator's, and clinicians trained in other modalities, within the PCMHTs.
We are looking for someone who has advanced therapeutic skills to join the existing established CAT service at the Munro Centre. The Service is based at the Munro Centre and works cross the PCMHTs Chaucer Resource Centre and St Giles.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder would assess and treat patients individually, facilitate CAT groups and deliver CPD and training events to other clinicians within the service. You would need to be an ACAT accredited CAT Practitioner, with an interest in developing group work. We may also consider trainees on the CAT Practitioner Programmes eligible for ACAT Accreditation as a CAT Practitioner.
The newly formed PCMHT are split into the North and South Sector and CAT Clinicians work across both the sectors. The post holder will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of CAT within the stepped care model.
In addition, we are looking for someone committed to taking a proactive stance in challenging racism, discrimination and supporting the development of anti-discriminatory and culturally competent service.
Southwark Primary Care Mental Health Teams (PCMHT) provide a range of therapies including cognitive, psychodynamic (including TFP), CAT, MBT, Schema, Trauma and Systemic Family and Couples Therapy. Good supervision and opportunities for collaboration with other CAT colleagues are provided.
CAT is well established in SLAM and has strong links with ACAT, CAT trainings and ACAT SIG group on Inequality and Diversity.

Essential
- To have undertaken a recognised qualification in one of the core mental health professions e.g. psychiatric nursing, clinical/counselling psychology, counselling, social work and occupational therapy or other relevant experience and demonstrable competence to practice in the mental health field in the NHS.
- CAT Practitioner, ACAT Accreditation; CAT practitioner or psychotherapy qualification (UKCP or equivalent registration)
- 3 years post qualification experience of working as a qualified CAT practitioner with complex client groups.
