Job summary
The Crisis Assessment Unit (CAU) Team Leader manages the unit for people who present within A&E who may require emergency psychiatric assessment. The service works closely with Lambeth Home Treatment Team, Lambeth Flow Team, The Acute Referral Centre (ARC) and the community teams in providing rapid assessments 24/7 and also to ensure full assessment and commencement of treatments that support early intervention in a crisis and ensure wherever possible people are supported at home or safely and promptly admitted to a psychiatric bed where indicated.
The MHLT and CAU provide support and teaching throughout the hospital and has close working relationships with several acute trusts. The post holder will be expected to be an advocate for mental health within the hospital and support all staff in providing care for people presenting with complex and multifaceted difficulties. The team work alongside Mental Health for Older Adults, Perinatal Mental Health and Neuropsychiatry.
We offer a flexible and varied induction programme, allowing the post holder to gain experience working across a variety of services both within SLaM and GSTT, as well within third-sector agencies.
The team operates on a 24 hour, 7 day a week basis, but the post holder will work Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm.

The post holder will provide line management and clinical & operational leadership to the Crisis Assessment Unit, working closely with the Consultants and other professionals to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of service provision. The aim is to ensure integrated clinical, operational, quality and financial outcomes are achieved within the service line.
