Job summary

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, caring, and creative people to come and join us and work within this newly developed clinical service, the first and only in UK to offer an intervention to reduce/stop cannabis use to young adults with co-morbid psychotic disorders. The Cannabis Clinic for Patients with Psychosis combines expertise in addiction with experience in working with young adults with psychosis to deliver high quality addictions and recovery care to the diverse service user group that represent the trust catchment area.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Band 6 nurse to be a member of the Cannabis Clinic for Patients with Psychosis (CCP) multi-disciplinary team, participating in the provision of on-going assessments, care planning, treatment delivery of the young adults with psychotic disorders and cannabis used referred to the service. Young adults with psychotic disorders often struggle to engage with the existing addiction services and therefore someone with experience in working with this clinical population would be preferred.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will form part of a team aiming to:

a) Work closely with the Trust dual diagnosis pathway practitioners to promote aware of the service and coordinate new referrals

b) Complete the assessment of the patients referred for intervention

c) Deliver the one to one intervention and participate in the weekly clinical group supervision where all the cases under the care of the service are presented

d) Take part in the organization and expansion of the weekly PEER group open to the clinical population served by the CCP. The PEER group runs on ZOOM every Tuesday pm.

e) Take a leading role in the further development of the service : a) reaching out to carers and b) collaborating with the smoking cessation team and c) dual diagnosis practitioners working in CAMHS services.

f) Build resilience and capacity in local addiction treatment systems to continue to meet the needs of this population in future years (resilient and sustainable models of care).
