8a Highly Specialist Clinical / Counselling Psychologist - Trauma
- Job Overview:
We are pleased to be recruiting to an 8a Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist post (0.8 wte) with a specialist trauma role (PTSD and Complex PTSD). The successful candidate will work alongside other members of a large, supportive and cohesive multi-orientation, psychological therapies team and closely with other professional colleagues in secondary care adult services.
Development opportunities: The Trust provides access to a wide range of CPD opportunities and all staff are encouraged to undertake development opportunities and activities relevant to their post. As a multi-modality team there are opportunities for learning and development alongside other modalities.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work alongside other Clinical/Counselling Psychologists delivering specialist interventions primarily using CBT, and the caseload will include dedicated sessions for working with Complex PTSD/PTSD presentations using trauma focussed CBT, EMDR or NET. A significant proportion of the team's referrals are for complex PTSD (including refugees and asylum seekers) as well as complex trauma presentations. In addition to assessing and treatment, all team members offer consultation and undertake work to support the work of colleagues in the CMHTs, which each staff member supporting a specific team.
Flexible working:
As one of the few Trusts in London we are proud to offer flexible working as part of our new ways of working, and we are happy to talk flexible working at the interview stage. The role involves clinical working between the hours of 9 to 5pm, and the essential team day is on Wednesdays. The majority of clinical work is delivered face-to-face. There is some capacity for virtual working but this may change over time.

The team provides assessment, consultation and psychological therapy for adults with complex mental health difficulties across the Borough of Croydon. It comprises a dedicated and well-established team of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists and Psychotherapists in Cognitive Analytic Therapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy providing therapy as well as working closely with CMHTS, linking in to provide consultation, reflective practice, teaching, supervision and co-working.

The team is based in central Croydon (Jeanette Wallace House) and face-to-face sessions are provided at this base and at other Croydon sites.
Croydon (Jeanette Wallace House)
CIPTS is based at Jeanette Wallace House, close to the vibrant Croydon high-street that offers fantastic shopping opportunities and a wide range of restaurants. It is within walking distance to East Croydon overland station with quick links to London. There are good bus, rail and tram links. There is no parking at Jeanette Wallace House.
Bethlem Royal Hospital
Bethlem Royal Hospital is based in a beautiful setting in over 200 acres of green space in the London Borough of Bromley, South East London. The hospital has easy access to nearby main roads and have offers free parking. The site is within walking distance from of Eden Park and West Wickham overland stations.

Essential
- Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (Doctorate in Clinical/Counselling Psychology or equivalent) that has been accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration
- Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC
Desirable
- Additional training in EMDR or Narrative Exposure Therapy
- Additional practitioner qualification in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
- Training in clinical supervision
