This is an exciting opportunity to join the PMOA Directorate as;
The Clinical Service Manager post will take day to day responsibility for the operational running of four specialist wards; Mother and Baby Unit, Lishman Unit, Eating Disorders Unit and the National Psychosis Unit. The successful post holder will work closely with ward managers and the General managers within specialist services to ensure high quality service delivery across the wards. You will work across both the Maudsley and Bethlem sites. The post holder will work as part of the Directorate's Management Team and will work with a team of clinical service leads and specialist clinicians, as well as providing line management support to ward managers. The candidate will join the on-call rota for PMOA.
For this role, we are looking for ambitious candidates with a significant level of clinical experience and the ability to balance a busy operational role whilst supporting the strategic development of the inpatient wards. You will be a credible and visible leader and manager who will be able to demonstrate effective people leadership skills together with a track record of operational management, budgetary management and implementing service improvements.
Main duties of the job
The Service Manager is responsible for leading the Specialist Inpatient and Specialist Services and delivering a high level of performance in line with Direcorate and Trust expectations
The post-holder will have operational, financial and performance management responsibility for these services and will be accountable for the delivery of high quality, user and carer centric and therapeutically orientated services.
This is a senior post and the post-holder will be expected to work autonomously in the performance of their duties, with considerable freedom to act and setting of goals and objectives for the service.
In addition, the post-holder will support the General Managers and Deputy Director in providing strategic oversight for the development of these services and will be expected to represent specialist mental health services for older people across the breadth of the local health and social care economy. This will include leading on specific strategic developments services as agreed with the Deputy Director including working with users, carers, voluntary groups and partner organisations in the implementation of national, regional and local priorities.
