Southwark Early Help CAMHS' Team is a dynamic multi-disciplinary CAMHS' Team, offering targeted support in partnership with Southwark Councils' Family Early Help Service. Southwark Early Help CAMHS has active and close working relationships with both wider Southwark CAMHS, and with the Family Early Help Service. CAMHS Early Help is a close and supportive team, representing a wide range of professional and clinical training and experience.
The Southwark Family Early Help Service has been designed by Southwark Children's Services to provide early help for children and families for 0-18 years in home, school and community settings, at an early point in problem formation, and to prevent further difficulties emerging. The Family Early Help service has strong links with local schools, with Children's Social Care and with NHS child services. The Service is split into two overarching teams; under 11's and over 11's. The CAMHS Practitioner will work with children and families across this age range. This is a supportive team working with a diverse range of mental health problems. Working so closely with our Local Authority colleagues provides opportunities forcomprehensive family support and transformation.
The team is based across Local Authority sites in either Peckham, Camberwell, or Bermondsey, and at Southwark CAMHS' base at the Maudsley Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake assessment, care-coordination, and provide treatment interventions to children and families referred to Southwark Early Help CAMHS with a neurodiverse diagnosis, for example ASC, LD, or ADHD. The post holder will work closely with our local authority colleagues in the Southwark Family Early Help Service.
This post is situated in Southwark Early Help CAMHS, working within the neurodiversity pathway. This works with children and young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health difficulties with a co-existing diagnosis of ASC, LD, or ADHD. You will be responsible for your own clinical caseload and you will be involved in assessments, care planning and offering interventions for children and adolescents with support from the multi-disciplinary team. There are opportunities for joint working with a range of professionals within the team and across the service, for delivering teaching and for contributing to group work.

- First level nursing qualification/registration RMN or RSCN or HV or Doctorate level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology or First level qualification in OT, social work, or equivalent or First level qualification in art, play, drama or music therapy with related experience in the psychological aspects of caring for children and adolescent with mental health problems/needs, developmental/ learning disability problems.
- Training in clinical supervision such as ENB 998 or mentorship and or equivalent experience and training
- All applicants will require a professional training and relevant CAMHS experience in combination with professional registration with one of the following statutory bodies: the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) , Health Professional's Council (HPC/ HCPC), Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) or The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
