Job summary

An exciting opportunity has come up, we are looking for a new Matron to join our team.

The post-holder will need to have strong clinical and leadership skills to enable you to support clinical care across the pathway. You need to be passionate and committed to delivering high standards of care. You should also be able to work with partnership organisations delivering a safe and robust service. You must be a qualified Nurse with substantial experience including clinical experience at a senior level.

This position of a Matron will offer you an opportunity to develop further your expert physical and mental health skills and utilise your leadership and organisational skills to improve patient and carer experience and develop junior nursing staff. You will be working closely with a well-established clinical team. You will receive regular supervision and support as well as opportunities to further develop your skills, ability and career.

Main duties of the job

The Matron role provides leadership for our inpatient team and support our wider services across Eating Disorders. The main responsibilities include developing and implementing nursing standards, improving clinical practices, and providing leadership for the inpatient nursing team. This role involves close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, management, and senior nursing leadership to ensure high-quality care in line with policies and service specifications.

Key duties include overseeing nursing leadership, ensuring professional standards, promoting career development, and maintaining compliance with professional codes. The post-holder will support staff training, recruitment, retention, and the development of nursing protocols. They will also advise on infection control, safeguarding, and best practice in nursing, while ensuring systems for clinical supervision are in place.

The role also involves collaborating on service improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of policies, and representing the service at external events. The post-holder will ensure compliance with operational standards, while continuously working on personal professional development and engaging in relevant research. A key aspect of the role is maintaining effective clinical systems to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care across the Eating Disorders service.

  • First Level RMN with post registration clinical practice
  • Senior Nurse with substantial years at Senior Clinical level
  • Has attained a Degree in a relevant subject area or is registered for and working towards a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area
  • Evidence of recent continuing professional development
  • Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
  • Ability to demonstrate application of NICE guidance (or similar) to own sphere of practice
