Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join ourChildren's Community Speech and Language Therapy Service. This full-time, permanent position is based in Milton Keynes, and offers the chance to be part of a small, supportive team while making a real difference to children and families in the community.

This highly rewarding role working across the early years and early years complex needs team offers opportunities to work closely with children, families and other professionals to support their understanding of children's speech, language and communication needs, and facilitate the development of functional skills.

As a senior therapist in a small team, you will support speech and language therapy associate practitioners, devising therapy plans and offering clinical guidance, supervision, and mentorship.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Registration with Health Professions Council as a speech and language therapist
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
  • Registered member of RCSLT

Desirable

  • oMembership to appropriate CEN

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of student placements/ experience reflecting clinical caseload
  • Knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the client group.
  • Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group
  • Awareness of prioritisation issues within client group
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of individuals from minority groups
  • Ability to liaise and work with other professionals and agencies
  • Knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the client group
  • Awareness of principles of clinical governance

Desirable

  • Foundation level dysphagia knowledge to support identification and referral on to dysphagia team.
