Job summary

CNWL are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Psychiatric Liaison Team at St Mary's Hospital in Westminster, London.

This is a 10 PA full-time substantive Consultant Psychiatrist role, and a 1 APA High Intensity Use Lead role will also be offered to the suitable candidate (secondary JD attached).

Main duties of the job

o Provide senior medical responsibility for the patients managed by the team and to support all members of the multidisciplinary teamo Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management of both psychiatric and physical health complaints of those presenting to an acute medical hospitalo Support recruitment and ensure optimal retention of team members and uphold moraleo Provide senior medical input to ensure KPI targets and service requirement are meto Provide training to other health care professionals and support service userso Ensure good service quality and performanceo Ensure training needs of psychiatry trainees and medical students are met as well as supporting training of other junior clinical staff

Westminster adult mental health service provides a range of mental health services for adults across the age range within the community and in hospital settings. These are integrated health and social care services

Community services in Westminster are evolving in line with the NHSE Long Term Plan. Most of the service is commissioned by Central London CCG and which has undergone a transformation program redesigned as an integrated care partnership around the four Primary Care Networks (PCN). Two mental health hubs provide an overarching structure in the North and the South of the borough respectively, within which there are functional groupings serving each Primary Care Network (PCN).

Joint senior medical responsibility for the care provided by the Liaison Psychiatry team. Fulfil responsibilities as a psychiatrist approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983 and Responsible Clinician. To take part in or facilitate serious untoward incidents de-briefing. To work collaboratively with the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust senior clinicians and managers, the Westminster Mental Health services senior management team and colleagues in developing strategy, audit, and written policies and guidelines for the future delivery of liaison services Development of a programme of learning and development for the Liaison Psychiatry team To play a full part in the further clinical development of the service. This will include:o Leadership role in the quality agenda: identifying areas for improvement and active engagement with QI in liaison with the CD and, CNWL Trust Clinical Lead for QI Dr Tami Kramero Support recruitment and ensure optimal retention of team members

Training responsibilities:o Developing and participating in a programme of learning and teaching for Acute Hospital colleagues.o Participating in CNWL and the Acute Trust local academic programmes and teaching.o Clinical supervision of FY and other trainees that join the service. There is also an opportunity to take on educational supervisor responsibilities within CNWL.o Teaching of medical students from Imperial College School of medicine if placed on the unit.
