Clinical Lead Occupational Therapy Neuro Rehab

Job summary

The Enable team provide community neuro-rehabilitation to residents of Ealing working with other NHS community services to provide high quality care.

The post holder will lead the Occupational Therapy provision within the Enable team, and act as a point of expertise in community neuro rehab and vocational rehab for other Occupational Therapists within Ealing Community Partners.

The post holder will carry a clinical caseload of patients with complex needs, and provide triaging expertise for patients who are referred to the Enable team. This includes holistic assessments of patients and provision of evidence based neurological rehabilitation, long term complex condition management and vocational rehabilitation therapy to patients in both individual and group formats.

  • This post holder will provide clinical leadership and support development of the Occupational therapy staff, assistants and students in the team. This post holder will work with the Occupational Therapists, physiotherapy, Speech therapy and clinical psychology leads and the service manager to ensure the efficacy of the team in working towards our service aims.
  • The post holder will continue to develop the vocational rehab pathway and evaluate the efficacy of this and other pathways within the service.
  • The post holder will need to apply enhanced knowledge of neurological rehab and be confident when representing the service and at multiple forums.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Duties

To be responsible for a clinical caseload. To work with complex cases, acting as a role model for excellence in care provision, using advanced clinical judgement and decision making.

To act as a point of expertise within Ealing Community Partners providing clinical support to Senior Occupational Therapists as necessary.

To carry out cross professional assessments for patients with complex needs.

  • To develop the Ealing Vocational rehabilitation pathway for patients with neurological impairments establishing pathways for further services across North West London.
  • To lead on the management of patients with complex progressive neurological conditions including spasticity management, postural and seating management, working across professional boundaries to ensure holistic care and effective multi-disciplinary working.

Professional Leadership

  • To represent the service at equipment contract meetings and oversee sign off approval for equipment.
  • To identify team priorities to ensure care delivery is managed in a proactive and timely manner.
  • Manage Occupational Therapist performance with the Service Lead.

Collaborative and Partnership Working

  • To lead on equipment provision for the Enable and Falls teams on issues, liaising with private contractors and Contract Leads.
  • To represent the role of Occupational Therapists at neighbourhood hubs, wider multi-disciplinary meetings or forums.
