We are delighted to advertise for a Band 4 post within our team of therapists from the Camden Neurology and Stroke Service. This post is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic setting across the borough of Camden and join a highly supportive and cohesive therapy team. The Service provides client-centred assessment/rehabilitation/disability management at St Pancras Hospital and throughout Camden community, including in clients' own homes, in therapy gym facilities or in wider community settings.

The successful candidate will provide evidence-based, client goal focused rehabilitation appropriate to the various specialist areas. We are looking for a highly motivated team worker with excellent communication skills.
This post will allow the successful applicant to continue to improve knowledge and clinical skills in a range of settings. The candidate will work alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams and be well supported by senior staff both informally and formally through supervision. There is a strong focus on personal and service development and you will take an active role in these.

Main duties of the job

We are recruiting for a generic therapy assistant within the Camden Neurological and Stroke Service, under the guidance and supervision of a qualified therapist. You may work with physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists.

To be actively involved with carrying out multi- disciplinary rehabilitation, and enabling care programmes, as well as being assigned other duties such as clerical and administrative and implementing infection control tasks in the gym.

To assist in the running and to support the provision of activity programmes at the Peckwater Centre and in a range of community exercise facilities. This may include facilitating group sessions, and supporting clients on a 1:1 basis in a range of settings under the guidance of a qualified therapist.
About us
The Camden Neurological and Stroke Serviceis currently based at St Pancras Hospital. The team is interdisciplinary and comprises of Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Assistants and Speech and Language Therapists.
The remit of the team is to provide rehabilitation for adults with neurological impairment in the community. The team promotes independence and community integration. Work with clients can vary from short episodes of care to longer-term support or rehabilitation, but always follows a goal orientated approach. The team is committed to a clinical governance programme and team members are encouraged to use an evidence based practice model and to participate in research and audit programmes.

To complement & provide continuity of the work of the qualified therapy staff.

Under the direction of a qualified Therapist, carry out independent training programmes and specific individual and group programmes, following a Therapists assessment and a treatment plan. Phone support from senior team members is provided if necessary.

To feedback clients progress to the team in the appropriate forum.

To assist in completing risk assessment of environment and safety under the guidance of senior team members following local and Trust policies.

To obtain information from clients regarding their interests and skills. Under therapists guidance, encourage and support clients in participating in activities previously undertaken.

Under guidance of other team members e.g. Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, S<, and clinical psychologists to assist and support in their rehabilitation programmes.

To independently complete graded exercise / rehabilitation programmes following guidelines from senior team members. This involves adapting basic treatment programmes.

To carry out graded outdoor mobility programmes with clients. This will involve continuous assessment of environment and potential safety risks. This includes public transport practice and accessing local leisure facilities.

To assist in carrying out group activities with clients such as exercise/activity/communication groups. This will involve set up of equipment, administration tasks, assisting senior team member and also independently running sections of the group activities.

To Deliver and fit specialist equipment in clients homes and instruct clients and their carers on appropriate use, maintenance and fitting of equipment.
