Job summary

Riverside Centre:

In these challenging times for the healthcare sector, the team at Riverside Centre Hospital remains more committed than ever to providing progressive opportunities for their staff, and this position is no exception. Crane Ward is seeking a new Band 6 Clinical Team Leader, and in return, we offer a comprehensive development package to support the growth of your career. This includes:

  • Career mapping to ensure ongoing professional development

  • Training opportunities such as CBT, DBT, Venepuncture, and more

  • Our innovative Trauma-Informed Approaches (TIA) staff training program

  • Support to become an in-house Physical Intervention Trainer

The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess and treat a range of mental health conditions, challenging behaviors, and severe and enduring mental illnesses.

Nursing practice is constantly evolving, and at Riverside Centre, so are we. We believe that to understand mental health issues, it's often more helpful to ask, "What has happened to you?" rather than "What is wrong with you?" This approach is at the heart of our Trauma-Informed Approaches (TIA), where we recognise the connection between life experiences and the development of mental health difficulties. Riverside Centre Hillingdon is a leader in developing Trauma-Informed Approaches (TIA) to patient care within CNWL.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assume the role of Unit/Site Coordinator at least four times a month. They will provide unit management support and coordinate patient flow (bed management) outside of regular hours. Additionally, the Unit Coordinator will offer senior nursing support, professional leadership, and guidance in all clinical areas within the unit, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We are seeking an individual with excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with service users, their carers, and other professionals.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Exceptional communication skills and a compassionate, caring approach to patient care.

  • A drive to improve inpatient care in a mental health setting.

  • A commitment to continuous professional development and collaborative teamwork.

  • The ability to provide strong clinical leadership and serve as a role model for best practices on both the ward and within the wider unit.

Please note, that this role requires successful candidates to participate in Therapeutic Management of Violence and Aggression (TMVA) training, including the use of force techniques, due to the high-acuity nature of the ward and the need to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. Candidates must complete TMVA training during their employment to be considered for the position.

About us

Working at Riverside Centre offers the following benefits:

  • A commitment to our Safety Pledge aimed at reducing restrictive interventions.

  • An innovative Trauma-Informed staff training program, including Team Formulation practice.

  • Integration of Sensory Modulation into the care pathway.

  • Coaching and development sessions on the topics like wound care treatment, dementia care, Mental State Examination skills, and administering ACE assessments.

  • On-site shadowing opportunities with our HTT, CMHT, and Psych Liaison services.

  • A dedication to career mapping, ensuring continuous professional development with opportunities for training in CBT, DBT, ECG, and venepuncture.

  • Flexible shift hours to support a healthy work-life balance.

  • A comprehensive training package, including sponsorship for postgraduate studies up to a master's level.

  • Recognition through our Hidden Gem award, annual ceremonies, and award-winning Staff Networks, which offer exciting events and thousands of members.

  • Excellent staff benefits, including childcare vouchers, health and wellbeing services, season ticket loans, and a cycle-to-work scheme.

Please note, that the successful applicant may have direct contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust, we strongly encourage and support vaccination, as it remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues, and, of course, patients and service users while working in healthcare settings.
