Job summary

We are looking for an EPMA Pharmacist to cover maternity leave to be at the forefront of digital transformation here at CNWL. This post carries a Trustwide remit. It is expected that the post holder will have a keen interest in clinical digital systems and a passion for how it can be utilised to provide safe patient care. The post involves travelling across the geography of the Trust.

This role is essential to our next phase of the digitisation project which involves implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) using SystmOne. This will enhance the transfer of patient information between secondary and primary care services.

Main duties of the job

Supporting EPMA/EPS system configuration, system development and testing Training and supporting all staff involved with the EPMA and/or EPS process (pharmacy, prescribers, nurses and floorwalkers)

Working with the Lead EPMA pharmacist to deal effectively with any issues arising to ensure that the system is fit for purpose

To act as a champion for EPMA, engaging staff and promoting the benefits of EPMA/EPS, ensuring that roll-out is implemented in a safe manner.

Excellent clinical knowledge, attention to detail and good time management are essential. SystmOne knowledge is preferrable but not essential. You must be a pharmacist registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), have completed Clinical Certificate of JPB diploma or equivalent. You will need to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, have good organisational skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

About us

The post-holder will develop, support and implement initiatives related to electronic prescribing and medicines administration (EPMA) both within the pharmacy and the Trust with the aim of improving the service provided. Key responsibilities are:

To assist in the implementation of the business plan for EPMA ensuring a timely delivery of targets

To support the Lead Pharmacist and the project team on the development, implementation and on-going management of the EPMA system to ensure delivery of a high level of patient safety and quality of care, efficient use of staff resource and cost-effective prescribing

To work collaboratively with senior specialist pharmacists to ensure their input into the EPMA system

To support the roll-out of the EPMA system across all sites, including participation in an on-call support system during the implementation phase of the project
