Job summary

CNWL have run a High Intensity CBT Training course for over a decade. The course is highly successful and respected. Due to an expansion in training commissions we are seeking two part time course tutors/supervisors to work with our team. You will join a highly experienced team of CBT trainers and supervisors and receive support and supervision of supervision in this exciting role. Some experience and training in behavioural couples therapy is also of advantage.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

Main duties of the job

To act as programme lead for our Long Term Conditions top up training in addition to direct input as supervisor and trainer to our high intensity CBT training programme. To provide training supervision to a small group of CBT trainees. To work as an academic advisor with trainees. To carry out an agreed amount of academic assessment as well as teaching of skills sessions. Opportunities to participate in delivering formal lectures and workshops are also available.

The CBT training department is a highly active and successful group of experienced trainers and supervisors. We have successfully established on of the largest CBT programmes in the country and have expanded our work into providing training in CBT Supervision, Long Terms Health Conditions as well as Behavioural Couple Therapy. Working with us will allow you to develop your skills and interest in training the next generation of CBT therapists

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling Psychology psychology or training and accreditation as a CBT Therapist
  • Accreditation or eligibility for accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
  • Accreditation or eligibility for accreditation as a CBT supervisor and/or trainer with the BABCP

Experience

Essential

  • Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical, counselling psychologist or High Intensity CBT Therapist
  • Experience of CBT supervision, training and assessment of competence
  • Experience of supervising qualified and unqualified psychology staff including responsibility for clinical governance, performance management and continuing professional development.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.

  • Experience of delivering specialist CBT for the treatment of specific psychological disorder e.g., OCD, PTSD, Psychosis.
