Job summary

This role is a permanent opportunity within the Corporate Strategy Team.

We are looking for a values-led, compassionate and capable senior lead, with a demonstrable understanding and experience of planning as well as the ability to deliver high quality, robust programmes, drive delivery and manage internal and external relationships at all organisational levels.

This post is a Trust wide role based in the Corporate Directorate within Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) and will support the delivery of the Trust's key priorities and objectives. Supporting the Executive, Divisional and Corporate departmental leads, the postholder will be instrumental in driving forward the key strategic programmes across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expected to:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Strategy and Planning function's priorities and the supporting programmes/ projects
  • Establish systems and processes to ensure the robust management and oversight of all the Trust's Strategic priorities
  • Lead the end to end planning processes in partnership with divisional and corporate leads including workforce and finance
  • Manage a central strategy and delivery team and hold accountability for other supporting staff

The postholder will need to be able to hold complex programmes, drive delivery at a senior level and delegate work to wider team members to enable successful implementation as required. The post will be expected to show clear leadership, reporting to senior leads within and external to the Trusts on high profile work programmes and work streams

Main Responsibilities include:

Strategy and Planning

  • Lead the planning and delivery function for the central team including the development of key planning and strategy documents; business cases and key proposals
  • Working closely with the Divisional Transformation teams to horizon scan and identify both risks and opportunities for the Trust. This includes key partnership opportunities which align with the Trusts values and objectives
  • Lead the end to end planning processes in partnership with divisional and corporate leads including workforce and finance
  • Develop and manage key external stakeholder relationships across Integrated Care Systems and Place based Partnerships
  • Lead a team of strategy, transformation and project managers and other leads through direct or matrix management arrangements
  • To explore opportunities for providing solutions to strategic and planning priorities
  • Establish and manage the reporting structures to ensure SRO and Executive oversight
  1. Service Improvement, Service Redesign and Transformation
  • Working with the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director of Strategy and Integration and Divisional Transformation teams to lead the identification and prioritisation of key programmes to meet the Trusts strategic objectives
  • Drive forward codesign and meaningful co-production as part of transformation
  • Enable delivery within Integrated Care Partnerships and Integrated Care Systems, supporting development at neighbourhood, place and system level
  • Support the development of emerging partnership structures including Collaboratives
  • Establish systems and process to ensure the robust management and delivery of key strategic and Trusts wide programmes
  • Establish reporting arrangements to ensure that the Executive Board has oversight of progress and the escalation and mitigation of risks and issues
  • Lead, direct and support planning, project and delivery managers and wider clinical/ operation staff in the delivery of Transformation priorities

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of projects, programmes and major initiatives to achieve beneficial change in line with the strategic objectives of the Trust
  • Ensure the planning and implementation of projects are in line with agreed project management processes and standards, within the defined quality, time and cost constraints across a wide area of clinical and non-clinical services

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Masters or Post Graduate degree in management or equivalent years of demonstrable experience in a relevant programme management role
