Job summary
ARC-MK help people over the age of 18, in Milton Keynes, who want to break a cycle of addiction to substances such as heroin, alcohol and other types of stimulants or long-term alcohol addiction. We offer a variety of psychosocial and clinical interventions to support clients throughout their treatment journey.
This role will specifically provide one to one support to high-risk individuals currently open to Probation or other Criminal Justice organisations. The post holder will be expected to attended meetings with senior colleagues and make decisions on behalf of ARC-MK.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has presented itself within our service! This is a unique opportunity to be part of an integrated substance misuse service combining the elements of education, prevention, treatment and recovery within a community environment. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed Band 6 Senior Recovery Practitioner to complement our Addictions Team supporting the delivery of psychosocial interventions to very vulnerable and highly complex people.
The post holder should be ready for a new challenge, show initiative in service development and work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team. You should have experience of working with service users with addictions to provide evidence-based interventions in line with NICE guidance. The successful candidate will line manage a small team and facilitate groups.

Clinical Duties:
- To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the management and treatment provision of a range of specialist services to problem drinkers and problematic drug users attending the service, including harm minimisation approaches, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, individual interventions, health education and detoxification programmes, drug tests, pre and post-test discussion (BBV) key working and group work
- To continuously assess the psychological, emotional, social and rehabilitative needs of own clients/patients, taking into account the needs of family and local community, and developing systematic plans for care and evaluation of treatment plans
- To provide case management and direct care to a defined number of clients as agreed with the Sector Manager. This includes assessment, ITEP care planning and providing specialist care
- To be able to assess and case manage drug-using clients, applying the precepts of harm minimisation
- To use agreed and established Outcome Monitoring Tools and any other relevant quality measures
- To contribute to the development, provision and review of ITEP care plans
- To manage the transfer of individuals between agencies and services
- To support individuals with their substance use, using motivational interviewing, relapse management and other evidence-based interventions
- To provide advice and support to other colleagues within the health care setting and to other agencies concerned with substance misuse
- To ensure full risk assessment and risk management are delivered effectively
Management and Leadership:
- To organise and provide line management for staff that you hold responsibility for in line with Trust standards
- To contribute to the development of a culture of risk assessment and management to be delivered effectively in own area of responsibility and practice
- To represent the team/sector on both internal and external, strategic planning forums and to act in a professional manner at all times.
Communication:
- To participate in multi-disciplinary meetings, both on-site and in the community relating to client management
- To attend business and clinical service-wide meetings and external satellites/groups as team representative, as and when required
- To communicate and cascade disseminated information to learners and other staff being directly supervised
- To develop close links with Criminal Justice Services and other local partner agencies as required
- To liaise and communicate clinical information with partner agencies within the strict guidelines/ protocol of shared confidential information between Addictions and the named partner agencies.
