Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work in CNWL Sexual Health service as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse.

The Archway Centre has 1 full time permanent Band 6 Nurse position. Additionally, there is also a fixed term (6-9 months) full time post to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

To maintain a high standard of nursing care and service provision, testing, treatment and management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and screening for HIV and other blood borne infections (BBVs).
To inform, advice, teach and counsel clients on all methods of contraception including performing sub-dermal contraceptive implant insertion and removal.
To obtain clear and thorough relevant histories from patients.
To examine patients and obtain appropriate clinical specimens according to clinic protocol.
To manage a range of symptomatic and asymptomatic female and male cases including discharge, genital ulceration and genital warts.
PrEP and PEP assessment and treatment.
Provide clinical supervision to Band 3-5 staff.
Shift coordination to ensure the smooth running of clinics and arranging sickness cover.
Participate in audit, quality and service improvement.

The main working site is The Archway Centre (Islington) however, staff may be required to work at other sites across the service if needed.

Job responsibilities

The post-holder will be responsible for delivering a high standard of sexual and reproductive health care to patients. This will include delivering nurse-led clinics for sexual health and contraception. To support health care support workers and students.

The post holder will facilitate the learning experience and environment for nurses (both pre and post registration) and other health professionals undergoing training and education in the department. This will include supervising and mentoring students undertaking contraceptive and sexual health courses.
