An amazing opportunity has arisen with the Camden Community Integrated Adult Service for an Occupational Therapist to join our physical health community Band 5 to 6 developmental post which is for 12 Months duration- Fixed term (Maternity cover). You will be working alongside senior Physiotherapy colleagues, Occupational Therapists, community Nurses and a range of other AHPs providing home & community based rehabilitation programmes in a diverse and exciting central London borough.
This post would be suitable for an experienced Band 5 Occupational therapist who have an interest in working in the community who want to consolidate their skills in the area of community rehabilitation. Previous experience of working in a community setting is desirable but not essential.
You will be offered regular shadowing, networking and supervision from OTs and within the team as part of your development journey. You will have regular meetings and supervision with a senior member of the OT team, who will support you with the progression of your development plan.
Main duties of the job
This post will give the successful applicant opportunity to experience a wealth of learning and development and to work alongside a responsive dynamic team who put patient centred care at the heart of what they do. We work in an inter-disciplinary way to provide client-centred, goal focused therapy to patients in the community.
You will have an interest in working as part of a team to provide high quality, patient centred interventions. The caseload is comprised predominantly of adults who may present with multiple complex health needs. As such, you will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills and interests in areas such as falls, orthopaedics, general medical and surgical conditions. An understanding of the management of multi-pathology patients and the impact that psychological/cognitive factors may have is desirable.
You will have the opportunity to use your skills and creativity to contribute to the development and implementation of treatment programs, pathways and initiatives in order for us to deliver high quality, evidence-based interventions that improve service users' functional abilities, independence and overall quality of life.
Applicants must have a qualification in Occupational Therapy and be HCPC registered in order to be considered for the post.

This will include having a direct link to the patients medical and therapy team for liaison and support where necessary and with the patients GP or other health care professional as required.
You will provide complex assessments and interventions and will make high impact clinical decisions. You will be expected to work autonomously whilst drawing assistance from other colleagues in primary and secondary care.
You will use evidence based principles/current best practise and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and to ensure that all members of your team do so accordingly.
Your exceptional caseload management and communication skills will enable you to prioritise patient care. You will also work closely with senior nurses, social workers, therapists and other health care professionals to establish and maintain a whole systems approach for these patients.

The support programme for this band 5 to 6 development post will provide the following:
- Work-based support & supervision.
- Additional support from the CNWL Education Team.
- Access to a Preceptorship programme
- monthly supervision sessions to support role development.
- Programme content & skills: Coaching, risk assessment/management, assessment, safety planning, suicide prevention, report writing, working with families/carers
The appointee will be appointed to a B5 fixed-term post for a period of 12 months. Upon successful achievement of the competencies at the end of 12 months, the post holder will be able to apply for Band 6 OT positions within CNWL and supported through the recruitment process, including those within the Camden teams which the post holder will have been working in.
