The role of the housekeeper is a vital role in maintaining the efficiency of the unit and supporting nursing and therapy staff to provide effective services to patients.
We are looking for someone who is friendly, enthusiastic, lively and efficient. Someone who has a genuine desire to contribute to the team in making a real difference to the lives of our patients. The role will involve undertaking a broad range of housekeeping tasks and supporting a range of activities on the unit.
Previous experience of working in a caring environment is desirable but not essential. Relevant support and training will be provided. If you are energetic, reliable, and friendly and work well as part of a team then this may be the ideal job for you.
Main duties of the job
- Provide nutrition and hydration to the patients during the day
- Maintain a safe, clean, efficient and therapeutic environment for all patients
- Accepting deliveries and keeping storage areas neat and tidy.
- Identifying and reporting faulty equipment.

Come and join the CNWK MK Home1st inpatient intermediate care team at Windsor Intermediate Care Unit, 19-bedded unit in Bletchley. Our purpose is to provide an enhanced Intermediate Care, rehabilitation and sub-acute service predominately for the older person. Preventing acute hospital admissions and facilitating early discharge are our primary goals.

Job responsibilities
- To assist the dietician assistant and nurses in preparing and giving the patients their breakfasts
- To carry out food fortification for patients as required, using the MUST tool
- Carry out regular hot drinks rounds, ensuring all patients are offered and assisted with drinks and snacks as required
- To assist patients with cutting up food, feeding and giving nutritional supplements as advised by the nursing staff
- Assist nursing staff at mealtimes, including setting up and clearing dining room before and after meals
- Ensure the kitchen is kept clean and presentable
- To remove all dirty linen from the unit and take to the laundry.
- To assist the staff in identifying and reporting faulty equipment.
- To liaise with the appropriate personnel and keep an accurate record of these pieces of equipment
- To work with the team in developing good practice and help implement improvements to the unit
- To assist in the ordering, receiving, unpacking, checking and putting away of stores.
- To participate in training as appropriate for role; to include food hygiene.
- To report faults in the kitchen area promptly and in a timely fashion
- Maintain infection prevention and control standards within the unit
- To have an understanding of different cultural/Religious requirements.
