About us

The Kensington & Chelsea Community Mental Health Team for older adults is a large, dynamic service offering mental health and social care services to residents of Kensington & Chelsea meeting the service criteria for 'older people and healthy ageing'. This covers a wide range of both functional and organic disorders but is no longer an age-specific service; the team will provide care for people with physical and mental health comorbidities, frailty and other issues related to the ageing process. The Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Supervisor is Dr Deirdre Bonner.

The team treats both functional disorders and dementia; however, the latter consists of working with the more complex end of dementia management, as early dementias are managed by our Kensington & Chelsea Memory Service. We therefore tend to work more with behavioural and psychological symptoms as well as those with co-morbidities or diagnostic uncertainty. The team has carer support at its heart and is one of its core values.

Additional opportunities for the post-holder:

  • Attendance at the Imperial MRCPsych courses for those who intend to sit the MRCPsych examinations
  • One to one supervision with a Consultant
  • Participation in local CPD activities
  • Opportunities in service development

This post is designed to equip doctors who want to develop toward further
