Psychiatry Clinical Teaching Fellow

Available as an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) or to a trainee not on a designated higher training scheme
We are looking for a full time Psychiatry Teaching Fellow to join our Medical Education Team in CNWL - Milton Keynes
This is an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Fellow to facilitate and deliver undergraduate teaching activities within our Milton Keynes Psychiatry Services
The role will be supported by a Director of Undergraduate Medical Education and a Medical Education Administrator
This post is split 60% teaching and 40% clinical sessions with our Primary Care Plus team in Milton Keynes.

Main duties of the job
The post holder has a key role in facilitating undergraduate educational activities within CNWL-MK but also more widely within the Year 3 Psychiatry course
The post offers extensive teaching opportunities and responsibilities
The post holder will develop their undergraduate education and teaching administration skills, working closely with the CNWL Director of Undergraduate Education.
The postholder will also spend 4 sessions per week with the Primary Care Plus team.
The postholder will spend 4 sessions per week in a clinical role as part of the Primary Care Plus team. Regular clinic will mostly be at Campbell Centre which is the current team base. On occasion, clinics at the GP surgery and home visits may be required.
The post-holder will also provide support and advice to other MDT colleagues within PCP, and to GP's and other professionals as required.

Teaching Fellow
Facilitate the Year 3 introductory lecture programme at the start of each rotation to a cohort
Support the Block Lead (Psychiatry) to ensure the smooth running of the lecture programme
Develop, enhance and evaluate the lecture programme.
Deliver teaching on a variety of topics that is clinically focused, stimulates interest in Psychiatry and supports students to meet learning outcomes as highlighted within their curriculum
Explore new and innovative techniques to deliver the curriculum digitally, including the use of virtual clinics and teaching methods
Develop formative assessments within CNWL by leading on the provision of a centralised mock-PACES (clinical exam) sessions
Host revision lectures and exam practice sessions (usually students taking re-sit exams)
Proactively support the setting of both written and clinical exams for Year 3
Facilitate sessions on Ethics (during each rotation)
Support the development of the curriculum
Develop teaching material and deliver lectures to students accessing the curriculum and gaining experience of Psychiatry from Year 3 onwards
Provide support to trainees engaged in teaching
Facilitate a weekly Balint group session for students.
Support consultant supervisors to provide academic support / mentoring to students experiencing welfare / health difficulties
Provide support and training to core trainees engaged in teaching.
Develop e-learning resources where appropriate
Clinical Role
The postholder will spend 4 sessions per week in a clinical role as part of the Primary Care Plus team. Regular clinic will mostly be at Campbell Centre which is the current team base. On occasion, clinics at the GP surgery and home visits may be required.
The post-holder will also provide support and advice to other MDT colleagues within PCP, and to GPs and other professionals as required. This will include taking a leadership role in the team referral/clinical meetings along with the team Consultant.
All referrals to the services are triages by the SPA (Single Point of Access) team. They come from a variety if sources, but in particular from local GPs and/or the Talk for Change service. Some will require further medical follow up.
