We are looking for a new Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to join our team on Willow Ward, providing high quality care to adult female patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions, ensuring that assessments for intervention are provided in a sensitive, accessible and culturally appropriate way. The post is based at the Campbell Centre on the Milton Keynes University Hospital campus and there is office space and administration support provided.

Main duties of the job
Leadership
Inpatient care here is delivered by an integrated multi-disciplinary team with a shared sense of ownership for the ward environment as well as the clinical services provided. A pragmatic leadership style will continue to promote this type of ward environment, ensuring collaborative working both at a clinical and an operational level
Together with the ward manager, the consultant role provides overall clinical leadership for the ward multidisciplinary team as well as direct clinical assessments and consultations for the team, including the following:
- Attendance at daily huddles and weekly bed flow meetings
- Clinical supervision of trainees and specialty doctors working with the team
- Medical input, consultation and clinical leadership to the locality ward and overall clinical responsibility for all patients admitted to the unit.
- Medical input and leadership in care planning and risk assessment for patients subject to the care plan approach (CPA) process.
- Clinical supervision of trainees and specialty doctors working with the team.
- Responsible Clinician responsibilities.
- Regular clinical liaison with community mental health teams.
- Regular liaison with families and carers
Regular liaison with other stakeholders as appropriate eg MK University Hospital, Mental Health Act Law, Social Care, Advocacy, Thames Valley Police
