This posts offer an exciting opportunity to join Milton Keynes Speech and Language Therapy Team, a highly skilled and motivated team within a new and evolving children's service. The Speech and Language Therapy service has a strong reputation in the delivery of evidence-based practice and ongoing, data-driven service development, and provides a supportive environment in which you can develop your skills.
The team benefits from being part of the wider Central and North West London NHS Trust Speech and Language Therapy team, which offers wider development and networking opportunities.
The Early Years Complex Needs Team is well established and provides assessment and support to young children and families. There is an emphasis on evidence-based service delivery, with the support to associate practitioners and coaching parents and carers central to the work. There is strong multi-disciplinary working with our paediatricians.
We would be very interested to hear from Speech and Language Therapists with strong clinical skills, a reflective, flexible approach and a strong commitment to the delivery and ongoing development of the service.
Main duties of the job
- To deliver culturally responsive, functional assessment of communication needs
- To work collaboratively with children, families and others to discuss assessment findings, and develop and support the achievement of functional communication goals relevant to the educational and social contexts
- To work closely with the our paediatricians, associate practitioners and wider multidisciplinary team
- To participate in service development
- To undertake other duties, as requested by the line manager to ensure the efficient, effective running of the SLT Service

- To recognise when seek advice/support to maintain good working relationships.
- To maintain up to date and accurate case notes in line with Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists professional standards and local trust policies.
- To be responsible for the security, care and maintenance of equipment ensuring standards of infection control and safety are maintained including equipment loaned to clients.
- To work within defined departmental and national protocols/policies and professional code of conduct.
