Job summary

Band 6 Senior Practice Nurses work in partnership with the people who use our services, their families, friends and carers and play an important contribution in how people experience their care and relate to other people. Band 6 nurses are expected to be compassionate, responsive and approachable but professional and informative and contribute to the quality of the service provided to the people in our care:

  • Keeping the people who use our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments;
  • Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence based policies and procedures;
  • Empowering people through working in partnership throughout their care and treatment in the service.
  • Supporting the development of junior staff and improved care delivery through effective supervision and the use of reflective practice

We believe that the best health care is delivered by multi-disciplinary teams working together and in partnership with other teams and services to provide seamless care. Band 6 nurses work as part of a team and you will contribute to the success of the team by drawing support from more experienced nurses and other health professionals but also by supervising other staff and students' nurses to ensure they are working to the standards which the people using our services deserve.

About us

We are the largest provider of NHS in-patient mental health rehabilitation beds in the country;

? We provide a service for people who have complex needs as a result of a severe and enduring mental illness which is pdychotic in nature;

? We provide a core service across Brent, Harrow, Hillington, Kensington & Chelsea as well as Westminster;

? In addition, we provide cost per case beds across a number of other boroughs and counties;

? Anumber of our services are AIMS accredited;

? GIRFT have also recognized the care we provide;

? We have a stepped care model, using the principle of least restrictive option, that includes the following:

  • High Dependency Units
  • Managed Access Units and
  • Community Rehabilitation Ward

? We accept people detained under both parts ll & lll of the Mental Health Act.

In addition to the standard training and development packages across the Trust we are also supporting staff to undertake the following courses:

  • Clinical Leadership;
  • HCR 20
  • SVR20
  • CBT for Psychosis
  • Family Interventions
  • Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
