Job summary

Are you a talented Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with great leadership skills and Clinical Health Psychology experience to lead one of our long established and highly regarded Clinical Health Psychology departments? Main duties of the job

The Hillingdon Clinical Health Psychology department has 15 staff members and has clinical psychologists employed specifically for ME/CFS, chronic pain, obstetrics & gynaecology, oncology & palliative care, stroke, staff support, post-covid and respiratory services. The department is part of a large (50+) multi-speciality Hillingdon Psychology service and has good links with the CNWL Trustwide Psychological Professions teams across London, Milton Keynes and Surrey.

The post will require you to build strong working relationships within the team, the wider hospital and local health care system. CNWL has a strong tradition of developing Clinical Health Psychology services. The post will offer excellent opportunities to further develop strategic leadership skills. As one of the very senior psychologists in the Trust you will have an active part in the strategic leadership of psychological professions.

Training

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology
  • Training in the supervision of psychological professionals / practice
  • Registration with HCPC as a practitioner psychologist
  • Training and / or qualifications in the relevant clinical specialism for this post; clinical health psychology
  • Training and / or qualification in leadership
  • Training in the supervision of psychological professionals / practice

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice and/or psychotherapy.
  • Accreditation in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice and/or psychotherapy with a recognised body.

Experience

Essential

  • Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical / counselling psychologist for a substantial period of time
  • Experience of senior leadership in psychological services or similar.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Leadership skills, knowledge and understanding of organisational systems in healthcare.
  • A high level ability to communicate effectively at both a written and oral level complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information
