Job summary

North West London Integrated Care Board (NWL ICB), Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL), and the GP confederation are introducing a new set of mental health teams for children, young people (CYP), and their families. Mental Health Professionals will work with Primary Care Networks (PCN) to transform how CYP receive early mental health support in the community.

Working in borough-based teams at local GP surgeries, you'll provide low level intervention, psychoeducation, practical training and consultation to GPs & Nurses. In partnership, you will bridge the gap for CYP in need of MH care when Core CAMHs isn't appropriate. Giving CYP timely access to MH services is better for their emotional wellbeing, and builds community resilience.

NWL aspire to deliver a thrive model via a multi-agency systemic framework, hence investment has been provided under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) for these new roles. We are seeking to find Mental Health Practitioners who can come and make a difference by providing high quality interventions in our new primary care integrated CYP mental health team.

You will be a vital member of the PCN, as well as CAMHS. This NWL role is one of 10 permanent full-time Band 6 CYP Mental Health Therapeutic Practitioners positions (37.5 Hrs, 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri). Main duties of the job

The practitioner will be embedded as part of the PCN Multi-Disciplinary Team. Working alongside the other roles, they will also be part of a wider CNWL CAMHS Early Intervention service, with ready access to a wide range of support and expertise across both MDTs.

Successful candidates must be qualified MH Practitioner, Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or CYP IAPT trained including CWP and EMHPs. You will have experience of working in a Primary Care / Community Mental Health Team/ Social care/ Education setting. You will be a confident communicator with colleagues and stakeholders alike. Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Professional qualification in mental health e.g. Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Mental Health Nursing (RMN) with current NMC/HCPC registration
  • Attained at least Level 2 Maths and English (equivalent to GCSE grade 9-4 (A*-C))

Desirable

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience of working with CYP in a setting e g /education or mental health care and of liaising and working with GPs, families and other members of the CYP network
  • Experience of working with CYP in a statuary or voluntary capacity
  • Educated to degree or Diploma level with other courses relevant to primary care mental health services e.g. CBT, Brief Solution Focussed Therapy etc.
  • Evidence of recent and on-going relevant further professional development
  • Attendance at specialist short courses relevant to the post (e.g. MBT or DBT, Trauma Informed Care, Group Approaches)
