Main duties of the job
The Highly Specialist Clinical Practitioner Role provides a comprehensive, specialist, trauma-informed therapeutic service to young people and prison staff at HMYOI Cookham Wood. The post involves having a key role in the delivery of the SECURE STAIRS Integrated Care framework and sits as part of our Health & Wellbeing (CAMHS) team. This will involve providing clinical input to a dedicated landing to support the trauma informed integrated care framework, working alongside the Custodial Manager, developing good working relationships with staff and young people and being a visible presence on the landings. This will include supporting staff to develop skills in reflective practice and understanding of key theories, such as trauma-informed care and adolescent development.
The role will also involve the assessment of the mental health and psychological needs of young people and delivery of relevant group and 1-1 interventions, akin to that delivered within CAMH services in the community. This will include providing advice and consultation on young people's mental health to other clinical and non-clinical members of the wider MDT within the YOI.
The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills; and a proven ability to make evidence-based, informed decisions within a complex, rapidly changing and demanding environment.
