Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for either a newly qualified band 7 clinical psychologist looking for a post with potential career progression or for an established band 8a principal clinical psychologist to join our well established multi-disciplinary team in neurorehabilitation at The Alderbourne Unit at Hillingdon Hospital and The Daniel's Unit at Mount Vernon Hospital.
This is a new post and we are restructuring the way we deliver neuropsychological input across Alderbourne and Daniel's following funding from Rapid Access Acute Rehabilitation (RAAR) service. The neurorehabilitation services provide clinical input to adults with a broad range of neurological deficits, including acquired brain injury, stroke, MS, and other acute, chronic or progressive conditions. The units serve a wide range of ethnic groups requiring flexibility of approach.
The post is primarily based at Alderbourne and Daniel's but may involve supporting specialist neurorehabilitation services across North West London. You will be joining an established band 8b clinical psychologist and assistant psychologist as well as a full complement of consultants in rehabilitation medicine, neurology, psychiatry and a highly established and evolved team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehab nurses and speech therapists.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist to join our well-established multidisciplinary team in neurorehabilitation at either band 7 or band 8a. We welcome applications from final year Trainee Clinical Psychologists who will be eligible to join HCPC, and from Psychologists with less than 18 months post qualification experience, who could progress from a Band 7 preceptorship to a Band 8a in this post. For preceptorship posts there is dedicated CPD time to further develop specialist clinical skills.
You will have an interest in assessment and remediation of cognitive and communication disorders following acquired brain injury and participation in service development in neuropsychology across NW London in the acute sector as well as in the community. This will involve collaboration with NW London ICS and CNWL.
The established clinical psychologist in the team is working towards obtaining the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QICN). You will receive regular individual supervision and support with the clinical psychologist within the service as well as opportunities to attend regular peer supervision groups and CPD events.
