Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, qualified, HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, to join the adult intensive care unit (ICU) psychology service at West Middlesex Hospital in West London.

You will join a friendly, supportive MDT. The ICU psychology service is embedded in the care of patients, relatives and caregivers. There is great collaboration with the Staff Psychology service and the team sits within a large Clinical Health Psychology service with opportunities for peer support.

You will also lead on a project exploring ICU psychology services across the NW London sector. A unique opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping the delivery of NWL ICU Psychology services in the future; identifying and sharing best practice, guidance and education opportunities for the critical care MDT.

As part of our commitment to address inequalities in healthcare, we are particularly keen to hear from applicants with lived experience relevant to the diverse communities we work with, and from those with particular skills in understanding and promoting anti-discrimination associated with protected characteristics.

The post is initially funded for one year, however, there is a strong commitment from CWNHSFT to continue and expand this service at ChelWest and WestMid Hospitals, therefore it is hoped that the post will become substantive.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Highly Specialised Clinical Psychologist to join our Intensive Care (ICU) Team at West Middlesex Hospital.

Working closely with the Lead Clinical Psychology for ICU to support the development, delivery and evaluation of a high quality, evidence based and effective ICU psychology service. Supporting patients admitted to the ICU, alongside their families and caregivers.

There will be an emphasis on the clinical assessment and treatment of patients in the ICU at high risk of psychological distress plus consultation with relatives/caregivers, as well as the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
