Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a committed and self-motivated pharmacist to cover a 2-year career break and support education and training across CNWL. This fixed term is until November 2025.

The Pharmacy services at CNWL were highlighted as an area of good practice in our Care Quality Commission inspection. Registered pharmacists with extensive post registration experience in clinical pharmacy; either mental health or community health services are invited to apply for this post.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have a regular clinical commitment to mental health teams. The base will depend on their clinical commitment. They will work alongside a Consultant pharmacist to support the development of pharmacy staff and deliver a comprehensive medicines management service to patients under the care of CNWL. They will develop, shape and maintain the pharmacy workforce plan. They will be responsible for implementing and managing change in relation to regional and national education policy initiatives (e.g. from NHS England Workforce, Training and Education Team) and oversee training programmes for the development of early careers pharmacists within the role as Educational Programme Director.

You will be encouraged and supported in developing your skills to support the development of specialist pharmacists through supervision of their practice and have the opportunity to deputise for the consultant pharmacist and lead pharmacist in their absence.

Frequent continuing education events open to all pharmacy staff across CNWL will allow you to network across the Trust.

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent qualification) + pre-registration training
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Post Graduate Diploma in General Clinical Pharmacy (or in progress)
  • Membership of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy
  • Fulfils the GPhC criteria to be a pre-registration/foundation pharmacist Designated Supervisor

Desirable

  • Accredited Membership of RPS Faculty / Credentialed Membership of College of Mental Health Pharmacy
  • Non-medical prescriber

Previous Experience
