Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for either a newly qualified band 7 clinical psychologist looking for a post with potential career progression or for an established band 8a principal clinical psychologist to join our Early Supported Discharge for Stoke (ESD) team and The Stroke Unit (TSU) at Hillingdon Hospital. This is a new post and we are restructuring the way we deliver psychological services to stroke survivors in the hospital and community.
Our ESD and TSU teams are well established, providing multi-disciplinary rehabilitation to people with stroke injuries across North-West London. Psychology is well integrated within these services and assessments and interventions are conducted as part of holistic and goal orientated rehabilitation. The ESD team consists of medical consultant, clinical nurse specialist, physiotherapy, SaLT, OT and rehab support workers. The ESD consultant also works in TSU which has recently moved into a brand-new building.
The successful applicant will provide high quality neuropsychological assessment, psychological interventions and consultancy. As a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team, there will also be opportunities for indirect working, in the provision of support for families and group-based interventions.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed clinical psychologist to join our well-established multidisciplinary teams in ESD and TSU at either band 7 or band 8a. Applications are encouraged from newly qualified, or soon-to-qualify, psychologists who could progress from Band 7 preceptorship to Band 8a in this post. For preceptorship posts there is dedicated CPD time to further develop specialist clinical skills.
You will have an interest in assessment and remediation of cognitive and communication disorders following stroke injury and participation in service development in neuropsychology across NW London in the acute sector as well as in the community.
You will receive regular individual supervision and support from the clinical neuropsychologist within the neuro-rehab service who is working towards obtaining the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QICN).
