Complex Emotional Needs Pathway Clinician- London Borough of Westminster

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinician with core profession to work in the innovative and dynamic Westminster Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) Pathway.

The post is suitable for an individual with general experience in secondary mental healthcare and an interest in working with people with Complex Emotional Needs (often diagnosed with personality disorder).

You will work as part of the Community Mental Health Hub at Queens Park and Paddington (based at Woodfield Road), and on in-patient wards at St Charles' Hospital providing consultation

You will have opportunity to train in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT), and brief therapies (Structured Psychological Support SPS) specifically designed for this client population.

This post is available due to the current postholder relocating.

You will be part of the Westminster CEN pathway team which consists of an Advanced Lived Experience practitioner, one other CEN Pathway Clinician, and a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy as Clinical Lead.

Main duties of the job

Apart from the opportunity to train and deliver DBT, MBT and SPS in the community, you will gain experience in consulting to and supporting inpatient teams. You will have regular clinical supervision from the Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy and Clinical Lead for the CEN Pathway, who also leads the Waterview Centre (Specialist Personality Disorder Service).

The CEN Pathway was established in 2020 and recently was Highly Commended at Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards. The service operates across the three Westminster Community Mental Health Hubs, providing timely and accessible interventions to service users presenting primarily with personality-related difficulties. You will work amongst and consult to Hub team members, creating an environment that supports patient-centred and evidence-based care for this client population. You will also work closely with the Waterview Centre , to ensure smooth transitions and co-working for those clients at of high risk and complexity who may require the higher intensity treatment offered there.

As part of the inpatient interface, you will provide consultation and support to inpatient staff in the case management of service users, discharge planning and complex case reviews specifically in relation to personality disorder.

Essential

  • Core Profession (Mental Health Nurse, OT, Social Worker, Clinical or Counselling Psychologist) and current live registration
  • Mentor/Supervisor qualification
  • Further training relevant to the care of clients with Personality Disorder

  • Degree or Diploma relevant to the field of Personality Disorder

Clinical Experience

  • Extensive post-qualifying NHS experience
