The AP will work alongside trainee and qualified psychologists to support health-focused individual and group work (e.g. pain management), and contribute to operational effectiveness & improvement projects .

Throughout this role, the AP will be learning about the art & science of integrating psychological theory and practice into optimising healthcare, at the level of individuals, teams and the local community.

We see this as a developmental role, and thus deliberately define this as a 12-month fixed period, and we will assist in applications to DClinPsy and/or finding follow-on roles in other specialties within CNWL.

The successful applicant may have contact with patients or service users. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is:

  • to develop the graduate psychologist's knowledge and experience in health psychology, and enhance their career trajectory
  • to support all staff in the Department, assisting in clinically related administration, audit and/or research projects
  • to provide psychological assessment and intervention as clinically appropriate, under the management and supervision of qualified professional psychologists

About us

As well as 1-1 clinical supervision, the AP will be included in bi-monthly team reflective practice, clinical MDTs, Departmental and District meetings, to widen their understanding of clinical psychology in health.

Direct interaction with trainee psychologists on London courses will also be very useful for APs who are applying to DClinPsy.

The AP will have access to the excellent CNWL Psychological Professions CPD program, which includes free access to numerous highly relevant courses and trainings.
