Job summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced Community Perinatal Nursery Nurse with excellent clinical skills and confidence to work autonomously with service users experiencing perinatal mental health challenges in the borough of Brent and Harrow. The aim of the team is to detect, prevent and treat perinatal mental health problems improving the experience of pregnancy and the postpartum period for women and their families. The mother, infant and family are all very much at the centre of the care delivered. Supporting mothers with baby care to develop skills, confidence while promoting infant mental health well-being, is key to the nursery nurse's role.

Main duties of the job
- Supporting a small caseload of clients with complex perinatal mental health needs during their pregnancy and up to one year post-natally. These may be longstanding mental health problems or those presenting for the first time.
- To deliver interventions in providing support to mothers and their families in caring for their babies developmental needs, promoting infant mental health and wellbeing.
- To work with service users in a variety of settings, including service user homes, antenatal clinics, Children's centres and outpatient clinics.
- To be involved in joint assessments including participating in a duty rota and telephone triage for referrals with support of experienced Perinatal Practitioners, Team Leader and other clinicians.
- To ensure accurate and concise record keeping relating to both parents and babies as well as documenting interactions with external agencies where appropriate.
- To provide written and verbal feedback relating to the mother's care of her baby and general feedback relating to the baby's well-being at clinical and local authority meetings.
- To communicate in a clear and professional manner with all parents, colleagues and extended agencies involved in safeguarding of the baby.
- To also work in partnership with local health visiting teams, maternity services, children's centres, Children's services and adult mental health services.
