A unique opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced psychologist to take up position as Psychological Clinical Lead in the Milton Keynes CAMHS service.
The successful applicant will play a key role as the Psychological Clinical Lead working closely with the medical and nursing clinical leads, service and teams managers to continue the transformation of services to ensure our children, young people and their families or carers' continue to receive an excellent high quality services.
CAMHS has a strong ethos of quality improvement and there are opportunities to lead the development of pathways and develop your own clinical specialist interests. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved in direct clinical work with a diverse client group, including psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions recommended by NICE. You will need a good understanding of the needs of children and young people with complex mental health difficulties and comorbid health problems. You will be required to work with clients individually and in groups, and with carers and. Liaising and developing effective collaborative relationships with other key services is an important part of the role.
Thepost holder will have management and clinical supervision responsibilities for qualified and trainee psychologists, DBT therapists and other clinical staff as required, and will assist in embedding a trauma informed environment across all levels of working. The post holder will be responsible for screening and assessing referrals, managing wait lists, and providing psychological consultation to colleagues and other services.

Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in counselling.clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Registration with HCPC as a practitioner psychologist.
Desirable
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
- Post qualification training in one or more additional therapeutic approaches
Experience
Essential
- Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a significant period including a number of years post qualification experience supervising staff.
- Experience of leadership or a managerial role.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse

- Experience of professional management of qualified and pre-qualified clinical psychologists and/or other psychological therapist e.g., HI CBT therapists.
- Experience of working across a range of clinical setting and knowledge of the key interface issues with other AMH services
