Job summary

We are looking for a Band 5 Speech & Language Therapist to join our highly-skilled multi-disciplinary team, working in schools, early years settings and preschool community clinics with children with a range of speech, language and communication needs. You will work closely with teachers and Early Years staff providing individual and group work, as well as training and advice to staff and parents.You will have opportunities to participate in a variety of projects and working groups within the team and will access the department's excellent in-service training and support programme.

This post is suitable for newly qualified SLT's.The team offers:o Clinical supervision including an innovative programme of weekly individual and group supervision, clinical training and workshops for newly qualified therapistso Defined caseloadso Designated admin and planning timeo Cross team project work and working groups

This post is within both the pre-school and the schools speech and language therapy team. He/she will manage a caseload of children and young people with support from the principal therapist SLT. The post holder will provide speech and language therapy to a designated caseload of children with a range of speech, language and communication, eating/drinking difficulties and Special Educational Needs (SEN) attending pre-school settings/clinics and schools in and around Harrow.

Essential

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification
  • Health Care Professions Council - Licence to Practice
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists

Desirable

  • Post graduate short courses in the provision of SLT to pre-school and school age children
  • Level 1 training in dysphagia

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Working with Children and young people
  • Assessment treatment and management of children with speech, language and communication difficulties
  • Working with children with eating and drinking difficulties
  • Working with parents and carers
  • Working within an educational environment
  • Writing clinical notes and reports
  • Assessment tools relevant to the CYP with speech language and communication, eating and drinking difficulties.
