Job summary
The inpatient multi-pathology rehabilitation team is based at St Pancras Hospital. The remit of the team is to provide rehabilitation and occupational therapy for adults with complex multiple pathologies (general rehabilitation needs, frailty, general neurological rehabilitation and disability management). The team promote recovery, independence and community integration, and enable self-management where appropriate. Work with patients can vary from short episodes of assessment/ treatment, and specialist sign posting to several weeks of intensive rehabilitation and complex discharge planning. We always follow a goal orientated approach keeping our patients central to all that we do. The team is committed to a clinical governance programme and team members are encouraged to use an evidence-based practice model and to participate in research, quality improvement and audit programmes. This post would be suitable for someone with previous band 5 experience, looking to develop at a band 6 level or equally for an established band 6 therapist wanting to consolidate skills in inpatient rehabilitation. The successful candidate may also gain experience of some community follow up and resettlement for patients on their caseload. There is access to Occupational Therapy in-service training programmes, in-house leadership programmes and a budget for external training. The team is based at St. Pancras Hospital, situated close to the amenities and transport links of Kings Cross and Camden.
Main duties of the job
This post will give the successful applicant opportunity to experience a wealth of learning and development and to work alongside a responsive dynamic team who put patient centred care at the heart of what they do. We work in an inter-disciplinary way to provide client-centred, goal focused therapy to patients in the community.
You will have an interest in working as part of a team to provide high quality, patient centred interventions. The caseload is comprised predominantly of adults who may present with multiple complex health needs. As such, you will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills and interests in areas such as falls and frailty, orthopaedics, general medical and surgical conditions. An understanding of the management of multi-pathology patients and the impact that psychological/cognitive factors may have is desirable.
