Harrow & Hillingdon Early Intervention in Psychosis Team
We are looking for a Specialist Grade Doctor to join our Early Intervention Service (EIS) teambased at Uxbridge. You will be part of a team that provides early detection, assessment and intervention for 14-35 year olds who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis.
This role provides a great opportunity to gain on the job experience in the NHS via our comprehensive induction schemes, or by mentoring you through the CESR process to gain consultant status.
You will be an experienced clinician, with an understanding of Mental Healthcare Service delivery and have an inclusive, compassionate and service user experience focused approach.

Main duties of the job
The Early Intervention Service (EIS) within the London Boroughs of Harrow and Hillingdon works within the Community Mental Health services in Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL).
Its aim is to provide world class, evidence based treatments in order to reduce the impact of the disorder for the individual and their families. The service is based on an assertive outreach model with the interventions being delivered alongside individuals in the community. The service will aim to engage with individuals for up to three years and will prioritise strategies to provide an environment that promotes user involvement and recovery.
The EIS will work closely with many services and agencies, accepting referrals from Primary Care, Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT), Children & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Inpatient wards, Schools, Colleges and Universities to encourage early referral to ensure an early assessment of needs by the team.
It functions between 9am and 5pm between Monday and Friday. It currently has a team based at Mill House.
It works in conjunction with other local mental health teams, and has developed close links with a range of community and youth services.

To be responsible for carrying out detailed psychiatric assessments and risk assessments and to contribute to planning and implementing service users care plans, under CPA procedures and guidelines.
To carry out the above in a variety of settings, including home visits, and other non-stigmatising settings.
To work flexibly to ensure that clients and their carers are able to access the service effectively.
To provide the day-to-day medical cover to the Early Intervention in Psychosis Team, with supervision from the Adult EIS and CAMHS Consultant. In the absence of the EIS Consultant, the Adult Consultant responsible for the geographical area of the service user will provide support and supervision.
To review clients within the community as well as those who require a hospital admission for medical assessments and evaluation including physical and mental state examinations.
To participate in the Middle Grade on-call rota for Hillingdon. Currently the frequency of on call is 1:10 but this may vary in the future according to service needs.
To be an active member of the multi disciplinary team.
To involve the user and carers in the treatment, management and care planning of a users mental health and physical care.
To liaise effectively with appropriate agencies, statutory and non-statutory, other mental healthcare providers, GPs and families and carers, as appropriate, regarding clients.
To ensure that clinical records are kept up to date, accurate, signed and legible.
To ensure that all aspects relating to discharging clients are appropriately dealt with, and all clients are diagnosed with ICD10 code.
To take an active part in devising and reviewing clinical protocols.
To be available to receive supervision from the Consultants attached to the EIS the team (Adult and CAMHS Psychiatrist).
To participate in Continuing Professional Development.
To participate in annual appraisal in line with Trust policy, from the Consultant or Lead clinician.

- Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
- To be section 12(2) MHA 1983 approved (or achieve within 6 months of apt), if not have Approved Clinician (AC) status/approval and be on the AC Register
- A minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades
- Equivalent years' experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas
