Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Psychologist or CBT Therapist to work in a unique branch of mental health at a time of unprecedented expansion and growth.
The post-holder will work autonomously delivering a range of individual and group CBT interventions within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. They will be a key part of the MDT and will liaise closely with colleagues from the clinic and other community services to provide true partnership working and seamless care pathways.
The successful candidate will be an energetic and robust individual with sophisticated and sensitive clinical skills and a proven track record of delivering high quality services in either the NHS, social care or the private sector. Previous experience in delivering CBT and working in adult mental health and/or addiction are essential.

Main duties of the job
Providing individual and group CBT interventions to people suffering from Gambling Disorder, in accordance with the Clinic's protocols.
Providing assessments to individuals, writing these up and presenting to the MDT.
Liaising with colleagues within the gambling treatment network, mental health teams and other services with an emphasis on robust clinical care and risk management.
There is an expectation of evening work once a week, to be discussed with the successful applicant.

The National Problem Gambling Clinic is a highly specialist national NHS service for clients experiencing gambling disorder. Our clinic is also part of the newly established National Centre of Behavioural Addictions. We pride ourselves on having acted as a centre of excellence and as a training clinic, having influenced policy and obtained a proven track record of publications. We offer a comprehensive, psychologically-informed, treatment programme with a strong group component. Our programme includes different treatment streams including evidence-based CBT for problem gambling, psychodynamic therapy, medication, as well as family interventions.
CNWL Addictions Directorate is a large well-established NHS provider offering a wide range of high quality drug and alcohol treatment interventions to the diverse and multicultural population of Hillingdon, Harrow, Ealing, Brent, Hounslow and Hackney and also includes a Club Drug Clinic and gambling service. 1. To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources
2. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients gambling problem and/or mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems
3. To work specifically with clients of the National Problem Gambling Clinic contributing to the delivery of individual and group-based psychological treatment programmes (rooted in MI/CBT principles and other evidence-based approaches) in conjunction with other therapists in the team.
4. To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
5. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.
6. To liaise and share risk management information with the MDT and other professionals involved in clients care
7. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
8. To act as care coordinator, where appropriate, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans including clients, their carers, referring agents and others involved the network of care.9. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of treatment.
