Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Occupational Therapist to join our growing team at the accredited Specialist Memory Service (SMS) in Milton Keynes. SMS provides early identification, assessment, diagnosis and support to clients who have dementia and their carers/families. The main responsibilities of this post will include assessment and diagnosis of dementia, working with clients and their carers/family post diagnosis and collaborating with the planning and facilitation of the group program at SMS.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone who is dynamic and motivated who can work autonomously and as part of the team to continue to provide and develop the existing service. You will be responsible to the team manager and receive supervision from a clinical psychologist.

The post holder will be part of the assessment arm of the team and will provide specialist assessment under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. The post holder will also provide both group and 1-1 evidenced based interventions to service users with dementia and their support networks.

The post holder will be expected to complete comprehensive written reports and all other relevant documentation in a timely manner. The post holder will hold a caseload under the supervision of a senior team member. The post holder will be expected to be involved in the in-house CPD programme as well as any teaching and training required.

The post holder will support the team in co-ordinating the provision of post diagnostic interventions, including service evaluation and audit. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
