Job summary

We are looking for someone who can work within the youth offending context whilst also maintaining the CAMHS perspective and play a key link role between these two services. If you think you have the skills to take up this role we want to hear from you. Main duties of the job

The post will be based between the Brent Youth Offending Service at the Brent Civic Centre and the Brent CAMHS team based at the Monks Park Health Centr, which is the clinical base for the Tier 3 CAMHS. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with previous experience of working with young people. You will take a lead role in working with local agencies, the private sector and the voluntary sector.

We aim to provide an accessible, flexible and responsive local service for patients and professionals working with children in the area using the whole range of therapeutic interventions, including behavioural, systemic, psycho-dynamic, group and multi-family work as well as neuro-developmental approaches. The YOT worker will compliment an existing coordinated approach by developing and supporting systems to ensure that when a young person enters the youth justice system, the YOT has within it the skill and capacity to ensure that their mental health needs are taken into consideration and addressed effectively. The post holder will ensure that a young person in contact with the youth justice system will have the same access to a comprehensive health service (both mental and physical health) as any other young person within the general population.

Education and Qualification

Essential

  • A qualification and professional registration in Nursing, Clinical Psychology or other equivalent profession
  • Nursing: Mental Health Nurse Level 1 (RN3, RNMH in sub part 1 of the NMC Register) ENB 998 or equivalent Relevant post-graduate qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health (e.g. ENB 603)
  • Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
  • Registration with HPC

Desirable

  • Post-qualification training in teaching & supervision
  • Recent safeguarding children training
  • CYP-IAPT training

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Post qualifying experience of working within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team
  • Previous experience of delivering evidence based treatment to children and young people
  • Previous experience in NHS/Local Authority/YOT Team
  • Experience of working with complex and vulnerable families and managing the associated anxieties and concerns
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and independent working
