Job summary

This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an 8B Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with proven clinical expertise and CAMHS experience to join our team at Collingham Child and Family Centre.

We would like friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic clinician to help us to support the young people we work with. The post holder will receive regular supervision and opportunities for continued professional development, both clinically and operationally.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as the Therapy Lead for our skilled and cohesive Therapy Team consisting of Family Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Social Workers, Psychologists, SALT and Dietician.

As part of the Collingham Leadership Trio the post holder will work in partnership with the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Clinical Unit Manager to provide leadership of the multi-disciplinary team and ensure the effectiveness of our work with the young people accessing the service.

About us

Collingham Child and Family Centre is a specialist inpatient mental health unit for children aged 5-13years. As one of only 6 units of its kind in the UK, the team provides intensive assessment and treatment for children with complex emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties, offering intensive work with families/parents and carers to develop their parenting skills.Collingham is a Tier 4 CAMHS unit which has both inpatient and day patient provision.

Our highly experienced and dedicated multidisciplinary team is committed to offering the highest standards of care to help children and families regain their self-confidence. Adopting a solution focused approach for hard to manage problems and steer a course towards optimism, newly realised potential and a positive future for the child and their family network.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuro-psychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist: Clinical Psychologist

Desirable

  • Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice especially relevant to complex CAMHS

Experience

Essential

  • Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a extensive period.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Experience of working with children, adolescents, their families, and the professional network of relevance to their care.
  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan.
