Job summary

This is an opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Eating Disorders to join a team of 7 Consultant Psychiatrists at Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service. The post holder will have responsibility for clinical care and leadership within the adult inpatient and day patient services . The opportunity arises because the current post holder is moving to a part time leadership role within the service, and so we will also consider applicants looking to apply for a part-time role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide psychiatric and medical assessment and management of adults with eating disorders receiving care in the inpatient and day patient programs. They will be well supported by psychiatry trainees, and a skilled multidisciplinary team. They will work collaboratively with colleagues across the service and other stakeholders, including the North London Adult Eating Disorder Provider Collaborative, which is led by CNWL. The post holder will be an active member of the service line senior management team, with opportunities to develop medical management, teaching and/or research interests as part of their portfolio of work.

Job responsibilities

This is an existing post. The opportunity arises because the current post holder (the Clinical Director) is moving to a part time leadership role within the service.

The post is well supported by junior doctors in training posts.

The post holder will be based at VSEDS, SKC MHU, Nightingale Place, London SW10 9NG. Administrative support will be provided at these premises. The post holder will sometimes provide work at other sites, such as assessments at Acute Hospitals.

The consultant will have space in a shared office and access to appropriate clinical space in which to see patients. The post holder will be provided with a laptop and mobile phone. IT support is available online or via a phone helpline

  1. To provide clinical leadership for the adult inpatient and day patient services.

  3. To develop and evaluate treatment pathways in collaboration with MDT leads.
  4. To provide ED liaison for inpatients/day patients admitted to medical wards at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

  6. To work closely with external stakeholders, including the NL AED PC, to ensure equity of access and well-integrated care pathways for all patients and their families.
