The Ealing Community Partners, Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team, have slightly reviewed our skill set and now require an additional, enthusiastic, motivated, Band 6 Therapist to be part of our rotational post. There may also be an opportunity in the future to link this rotation in with our colleagues in Mental Health.
We are a friendly and experienced, specialist community team with a strong commitment to CPD. We offer excellent clinical and professional support and supervision and access to relevant courses to support you in developing your special interest.
Two of the three rotational posts will be located with the Adult Community SLT & ENable Teams, located at either Clayponds Hospital or Ealing Day Treatment Centre. You will be working with a cohort of outpatient and domiciliary patients with communication and swallowing difficulties as a result of Neurological disorders including Stroke, progressive degenerative disorders, care of the elderly and the Nursing Home service. The other post in the rotation will be located at Clayponds Rehabilitation Hospital which is an inpatient, MDT, purpose built environment, also with patients with communication and swallowing difficulties as a result of a neurological disorder.
You will be working as part of an MDT and will be fully supported and supervised by an SLT Team Lead in either rotation.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have the knowledge, skills and experience working with both dysphagia and communication patients, in preferably an outpatient/community, inpatient, clinical setting. We would welcome applications from suitably experienced B5 therapists looking to progress their career in a supportive environment.
The successful candidate will be an active member of the multi-professional team and work to ensure its continued development. High standards of SLT intervention are to be provided to support clients to effectively manage complex neurological conditions. Excellent communication, liaison and time-management skills are needed to manage the caseload effectively, in addition to being forward thinking and enthusiastic regarding innovative ways of working.

- To use specialist clinical skills to manage a complex caseload of adults with neurological conditions both progressive and acquired resulting in communication and/or swallowing difficulties either in community outpatient clinics, patients own homes or usual place of residence.
- To provide specialist assessment of communication and swallowing problems, formulate a hypothesis using a high level of clinical reasoning, and develop and implement appropriate interventions/ rehabilitation to be delivered either in patients homes or community outpatient clinics.

- To write comprehensive reports that are accessible to a range of professionals reflecting specialist knowledge.
