Job summary

Hillingdon Older People's Mental Health (OPMH) services are inviting applications from HCPC registered Senior Clinical / Counselling Psychologists specialising in working with older people. The post we offer is across two service areas, our Memory Service and Oak Tree Ward, our Older Adult acute mental health unit. This is an interesting and varied post within a well-established older people's mental health service in the London Borough of Hillingdon. In addition to the delivery of clinical services, there will be opportunities for a range of interesting and varied roles, including working with service users, carers, the teams, and other partners to support service improvement and development work.

Hillingdon is home to a diverse population and contexts, from urban to semi-rural. Situated in North West London, it has good transport links with the rest of London and surrounding counties.

As a trust we are committed to staff development and as such, we will consider applications from HCPC registered psychologists at band 7 for a preceptorship role to 8a. We are also very keen to support applicants who may be looking to change role, but have already started additional training in their current post and would like to continue with their current course / CPD.

We are also open to applications from HCPC registered psychologists looking for part-time roles in either the Memory Service or Oaktree ward.

Main duties of the job

Memory Service:

  • Delivery of high quality clinical assessment (including the assessment of cognition), formulation, and intervention to people presenting with possible cognitive impairment.
  • To be a Professional Psychological resource to the Memory Service and, when needed, the wider Hillingdon OPMH teams, providing specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals and contributing directly to clients' formulation, diagnosis and care planning.
  • To support the supervision of prequalified and qualified psychologist, depending on experience.
  • To support service development and improvement.

Oaktree Ward

  • Delivery of high quality clinical assessment , formulation, and intervention to people presenting with a range of mental health needs and people living with dementia.
  • To be a Professional Psychological resource to the ward team and, when needed, the wider Hillingdon OPMH teams, providing specialist psychological advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals and contributing directly to clients' formulation, diagnosis and care planning.
  • To support discharge through liaising and working with community services across the local Integrated Care System.
  • To support the supervision of prequalified and qualified psychologist, depending on experience.
  • To support service development and improvement.

  1.   • Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology or BPS Chartered Status for Counselling Psychologists, including specifically models of psychopathology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS.
  • Current HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.

Desirable

  • Training in clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology.
