Job summary

JOB SUMMARY

  • To work with The Diabetes Education Service in delivering Structured Education for patients with type 2 diabetes.

  • To support the development of quality podiatry education within the diabetes service.

  • Delivering podiatry clinics for patients within the Podiatry service

  • To monitor and participate in audits within the diabetes education service/Podiatry service.

Support the diabetes education service at events and diabetes awareness campaigns

Main duties of the job

We have an opportunity for an experienced BSc qualified, HCPC registered podiatrist with a flexible approach, to join our friendly community team to provide multi-disciplinary diabetes education groups and podiatry clinics.

The Diabetes Education Service (DES) is managed by the Diabetes service. The post holder will provide the podiatry component of a local multi-disciplinary education programme for patients with Type 2 Diabetes known as Right Start.

The post holder will need excellent group work and facilitation skills, good organisational skills, demonstrate a patient centred focus and have excellent communication skills.

The post holder will be expected to carry podiatry clinics and will have the opportunity to develop in speciality areas. Professional support will be provided through regular supervision, CPD and team meetings within the main podiatry department and diabetes service.

The post holder will be working closely with the Diabetes Specialist Dietitians, Diabetes Specialist Nurses and Podiatrists. The post holder will be based in the community at Featherstone Road Clinic but will need to travel to other sites to run and support the group sessions and carry out clinics.

Weekend working on a rotation is part of the role.

The post holder will report to a band 7 lead who will be line managing the role. The band 7 lead will provide joint supervision/appraisal with the Education manager.

  • Experience of contributing to service development including developing and implementing policies, guidelines and standards
