Job summary

Following the promotion of the current postholder, we are looking for a highly motivated, innovative and experienced senior IAPT clinicians to take on 8b positions within our well established Talking Therapies (IAPT) service in Brent. Clinical or Counselling psychologists are desirable but the post is open to any experienced IAPT clinician who has been in a senior role and is formally qualified and fully accredited via established IAPT training and professional bodies.

To be shortlisted, you should be currently employed in an IAPT service in a senior management capacity, have excellent clinical skills, be an accredited and IAPT compliant therapist and have substantial supervisory experience. You will be familiar with IAPT requirements and have experience of using data to manage delivery of all key targets.

You will also have experience of developing a substantial service provision including managing, service development and evaluation and providing expertise through teaching and supervising within this provision. You will have a track record of excellent collaborative working, staff development and good relationships with colleagues across mental health services, as well as experience of working within the wider borough mental health developments.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the clinical lead and the senior team to manage operational issues within the team, and will have clinical supervision responsibilities for qualified therapists and other clinical staff as required, as well as shared responsibility for designated management duties such as recruitment, line management and performance management.

The postholder will have the opportunity to become involved with quality improvement projects and other initiatives that enhance the service user experience and will be responsible for providing reports and data around performance as appropriate.

You will need a good understanding of the needs of people with complex mental health difficulties a as well as experience of working with these client groups and will carry a clinical caseload of such clients and also receive support for further training and development in specialist areas of interest.

You will also have experience of working in a senior role, providing management and supervision to staff within IAPT, and also experience of supporting service development and expansion in areas such as community partnerships, working with other healthcare providers, perinatal, and long term health conditions amongst others.

Training and qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant specialist training or qualifications in an evidence based therapeutic modality as well as appropriate accreditation for the same with a recognised body (eg BABCP).
  • Formal training in supervision

Desirable

  • Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited and registered with the BPS and HCPC.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a leadership role in an IAPT service,
  • Experience of service development and of embedding new organisational models, services and pathways.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including primary and secondary care.
  • Experience of managing and supervising workforce from different backgrounds.
  • Experience of providing an autonomous clinical service to a diverse population.
  • Experience of teaching, training and supervision
