Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and develop a newly commissioned pan-London Women's Mental Health Treatment Requirement service to reduce custodial sentences and improve the wellbeing of women in the criminal justice system with mental health needs. This is a London Pathways Partnership (LPP) service, jointly provided by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, Central and North West London (CNWL) NHS Foundation Trust and voluntary sector partner Together for Mental Wellbeing.
LPP are looking for two 0.6 WTE B8b Clinical or Counselling Psychologists to lead the service across London; with the posts operating as a jobshare independently taking a lead on North and South locations and ensuring seamless delivery pan-London throughout the year. The role will be responsible for operational service delivery across all courts in London. The successful candidates will hold a small complex clinical caseload and be responsible for supervision of the clinical team.
Main duties of the job
The Women's Mental Health Treatment Requirement (MHTR) Service is funded via a partnership between the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE/I), Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and Office of Health Improvement and Disparities. MHTRs were introduced by the Criminal Justice Act in 2003, recognising that for many individuals who offend, mental health and substance misuse issues underpin their offending behaviour. Treatment requirements offer courts an alternative to short custodial sentences and aim to prevent reoffending by addressing underlying vulnerabilities and improving quality of life. This service aims to increase the use of primary care treatment requirements as part of a community sentence, offering psychologically informed interventions and advice. The MHTR Service will also provide the courts with information and confidence to sentence to robust and effective treatment requirements.

- oAn honours degree in Psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS
- oDoctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology or equivalent, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, equivalent to that accredited by the BPS.
- oEvidence of significant post-qualification specialist training, experience and developing expertise in a specialist area of clinical practice
- oHCPC Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- oCompletion of supervisor training course
Desirable
- oPre- or Post-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

- oSubstantial assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist including at a highly specialist level or an alternative agreed by the Chief Psychologist
- oExperience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
- oExperience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- oExperience of teaching and training
- oExperience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
- oAdvanced knowledge, experience and expertise in at least one specialist area of clinical practice gained through specialist training and supervised practice (e.g. psychotherapy, neuropsychology, risk assessment, clinical supervision).
- oExperience of leading on projects of service design or improvement.
- oExperience of leadership, management and supervision of trainees and qualified staff including those from other disciplines.
