Job summary

Join an established clinical psychology service within two London neonatal units where the focus is on providing an accessible, compassionate and strength based service to support parent wellbeing, parent baby relationships and staff-parent partnerships. The Neonatal service sees psychology as essential members of the MDT so that you are invited to contribute at all levels to the team ethos of trauma-protective, developmentally supportive and integrated family delivered care.

Main duties of the job

To provide a qualified clinical psychology service to babies and parents within the Neonatal Service at St Mary's Hospital/Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital (0.6 wte) including both inpatient and outpatient work. To work directly with infants (0-2 years), their families and the MDT around them. To offer consultation, training and reflective practice to other professionals as well as signposting to staff wellbeing services as needed.

Experience of working in a Paediatric Psychology setting is highly desirable. Experience providing supervision to trainee clinical psychologists is desirable.

About us

St Mary's Hospital & Queen Charlotte's Hospitals are large inner city teaching hospitals offering secondary and tertiary level medical services to an ethnically and socio-economically diverse population. There is a staff hopper to facilitate travel between the two sites during the working day. The postholder will be line-managed and supervised by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Lead for Neonatal & Paediatric Psychology within Imperial Children's Services.

Qualification

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS
  • HCPC membership

Desirable

  • Training and qualifications in a relevant field of applied psychology/research methodology.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including child, young people and their families.

Desirable

  • Supervising a trainee clinical psychologist
  • Pre or post qualification experience in paediatric psychology or comparable setting
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervising

Skills

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
