Job Advert - Band 7 Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist, CMHT
We are looking for an innovative, motivated and enthusiastic clinical/counselling psychologist to work with clients with complex health, psychological, and social needs being treated in our Harrow CMHT. As a part of our community transformation process, we are developing a number of treatment pathways all of which are integrated within community based multi-disciplinary service for adults in Harrow. Theteamprovides psychological input, including assessment and treatment (group, individual and family), for people aged 18 and over who present with severe mental health problems including psychosis, personality disorder (and associated co-morbidities) and complex mental health difficulties. Our complex emotional needs (Personality Disorder) pathway has a newly developed intensive full DBT programme. There are a range of opportunities for career development at the Harrow CMHT, including post-qualification training in an evidence-based model. We will be able to offer further certificated training in line with the candidate's ongoing professional development needs.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting post that will provide the opportunity in delivering psychological services to improve short and long-term outcomes for service users experiencing problems associated with complex mental health issues. The post holder will be expected to provide specialist psychological assessment and effective evidence based interventions (including formulation and care planning where appropriate) and advice, consultation and training on aspects of psychological care to colleagues from other disciplines as well as guidance on family interventions and consultation to non-professional carers. This is a developing area of service provision and the post holder will have an opportunity to be involved in shaping and developing the various care pathways.

Joining our service offers the opportunity to utilise and develop skills in a range of psychosocial interventions. The post holder will be part of a supportive team, with good supervision structures and access to opportunities within the borough and wider trust for development of special interests and the sharing of specialist knowledge. The post holder will also work alongside other psychological therapy providers working in our community based psychology services as well as our non-statutory community partners.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a real commitment and compassion for working with this client group and across a diverse population. Excellent psychological assessment and intervention skills are required, especially in the delivery of NICE recommended interventions. A commitment to working from a trauma informed perspective would be welcome, and the successful applicant will also ideally have some experience of working within a secondary care context.
The post holder will have a strong commitment to recovery principles, multi-disciplinary working, service user involvement, and working with people who are cautious about engaging with mental health services. Strong team skills and the ability to work through consultancy with other staff members will be essential. We would actively encourage continuity and transition work between our various services such as In-patient units, crisis teams, rehabilitation services, peri-natal services, EIS teams, health psychology and, community services.
